Keedysville Planning and Zoning
June 8, 2009 7:00 P.M.
Attending members: Tim Robertson, Don Weigel, Randy Burns, Rick Bishop, and Matt Hull
Also attending: Mary Robertson, David Parks (Allegany Power), Rob Holmes (Fred Seibert & Assoc.) Richard & Catherine Parks
The minutes from May's meeting were read and approved.
Old Business: Tim introduced new member Rick Bishop to the Committee. Rick was appointed to the Committee at last month's Town Council meeting.
New Business: The Committee received a letter from the Maryland Department of Planning that offered assistance in completing the Comprehensive Plan. This information was
passed on to Catherine Parks at Arro.
David Parks and Rob Holmes were present at this meeting to request advice concerning a substation they want to place off Coffman Farms Road. They stated that this substation
would be for future growth, better service, less interruptions and to improve reliability. Allegany Power plans to purchase 4 building lots (# 53, 54, 55 & 56) from Kettler
Brothers. The substation will be unmanned on approx. 3.79 acres and would be adjacent to the pump station. Discussion was held regarding the steep slopes, and screening
landscaping. The Committee advised that they would need a special exception under 305, section C #3 Essential Utilities of the Zoning Ordinances. The hearing should cover
the steep slope as well as the substation.
The meeting adjourned at 7:22 PM.
Following the meeting, Planning and Zoning continued to work on updating the Comprehensive Plan with Catherine and Richard Parks from Arro.
