January 11, 2010

Attending members: Tim Robertson, Randy Burns, Don Weigel, and Matt Hull

Also attending: Mary Robertson, Catherine & Richard Parks, Rick Bishop, David Parks Allegany Power), Jeff Estouffer (Masonic Lodge), Rob Holmes (Fred Seibert & Assoc.)

Minutes from December's meeting were read and approved.

Old Business: Rick Bishop is our new Town Administrator and is resigning from the P & Z Board. Rick will put this information on the Town's website.

The State of Maryland has the new online course ready for Committee members to take. Don states that he does not have a computer. Tim says that he will check out the online training and see if he can find a computer for Don to use.

David Parks and Rob Holmes were present to discuss the Allegany Power substation and to see if they had everything they needed to obtain final approval. The Washington County Health Department is balking at signing until they receive a letter or sign off from Planning and Zoning. Tim made a motion to grant final approval to Allegany Power for the substation subdivision. It was seconded by Don. All agreed.

New Business: Jeff Estouffer was present from the Masonic Lodge to request a permit for a sign on the front of their building at 7 S. Main Street. The sign will be 2' x 3', not lighted, perpendicular to the street, attached to the porch, and double sided. According to Article 7, 701 E, there is no fee for the permit since they are a charitable/nonprofit organization . Once he fills out the application, it will be OK to issue the permit. The Masonic Lodge is holding an open house on February 2 that is open to the public.

Meeting adjourned at 7:19 PM.

After this meeting, Planning and Zoning held a workshop with Catherine and Richard Parks concerning the Comprehensive Plan.
